Consideration of Decentralized Wastewater Management
Description
Many communities on Cape Cod, including Brewster, have decentralized or “package” sewage treatment plants to manage wastewater in specific neighborhoods or locations. Join the BPC for this free informational session about neighborhood package sewage treatment plants, which are “...pre-manufactured treatment facilities used to treat wastewater in small communities or on individual properties.” (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Document EPA 832-F-00-016). This informative talk, presented by Brewster resident and engineer, Dave Bennett, will allow you to hear from an expert about the benefits and limitations of decentralized sewage treatment plants and where some of these systems are located in Brewster.
These systems are being considered for the former Sea Camps Long Pond Property, and are seen as a possible alternative to a town-wide sewer system. As Brewster works to develop its Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan and determine the best option(s) for the town and its residents and business owners, this topic is of high interest. Come and hear from an expert all about the benefits and drawbacks of neighborhood package treatment plants,
This event is open to the public. Registration is requested for this free event on Tuesday, March 26th, from 5-6:30 PM, at the Brewster Ladies Library, Main Street, Brewster. Please use the link above to register.
